Hattat Black Diamonds Company

With determined and brave steps, Hattat Holding is rapidly continuing the operations to make West Black Sea Region an energy base in the fields of coal, methane, oil, natural gas and power plants.

Hattat Black Diamonds Company operates on 2 different areas and shelters Amasra Colliery and Kandilli Colliery.

Amasra Coal Project

Amasra Coal Project has kicked off in Bartın’s Amasra region, after having the coal production license covering 40km2.karaelmas

Considering the 573 million tons of reserves, the depth and diameter of the wells and the annual production target; this is not just one of the most important energy projects in Turkey but it also effects and draws attention in the world coal mining sector as well. The project which started with drilling of the 3 wells (8 diameters/1000 m depths); 11.000 employment capacity and plans to start off with 5 million tons per year production capacity and raise it up to 10 million tons per year with additional investments. The construction of the aboveground facilities and power transmission lines are completed in all 3 of the separate well zones. The contractor for drilling the wells is Datong Company, which is China’s second biggest coal production firm. After the deepening of the wells, underground galleries and panels will be prepared in order to start the production.

Kandilli Colliery

Our company has taken over the license to operate the colliery in Armutçuk Region, Alacaağzı Zone Where Turkish Hard Coal Enterprises stopped operating. Initially 10 kms of gallery adjustment and renewal of all the underground and above ground facilities has been completed.

This region has 20 million tons of production reserves and the production is continuing. The total investment expense is more than 35 million dollars up to today and the daily production is around 500 tons. With new panels put into service, the production will increase to 1000 tons per day starting from 06/2010. Some of the coal extracted from this area is used in the steel and iron industry and some is preferred by the cement and sugar factories.
