Kandilli / Zonguldak

Hema Industry Colliery takes place on a 92m2 area with TTK holding the rule of law. It is on 35km west of Zonguldak Province, approximately 5 km inland from the Zonguldak-Ereğli Highway and within Kandilli and Gökçeler Municipality limits.

The region has typical Black Sea climate with cool and rainy springs; rainy, humid and cold winters and short and warm summers.

The vegetation is highly developed due to the lithology, climate and the water-absorbency of the rocks. Forest cover consists of oak, juniper, beech, hornbeam and chestnut trees.

Stream network is developed. Because of the lithologic composition of the formations, the surface has high absorbency.

There are Paleozoic and Mesozoic modules in the region. Producible coal seams have formed in Westphalian-A in the Carboniferous era. Since these modules are mostly seen in Kozlu Region in the Zonguldak Basin, it is called the Kozlu Formation.

Kozlu Formation is seen in the Zonguldak Basin in Armutçuk, Alacaağzı, Kozlu, Üzülmez, Karadon and Amasra locations. There are 5 coal seams called Davulcu, Üçköylü, Bozmaoğlu, Küçükdamar and Büyükdamar. Production is still being carried on in Küçükdamar and Büyükdamar. The module is between 0-300m in Armutçuk location. Kozlu Formation crisscrosses Alacaağzı Formation. After detailed analysis, the age of the modeule has been stated as Westphalian-A.

Kandilli – Big seam above 300m : 3.517.299 Tons
Kandilli – Üçköylü below 300: : 3.410.483 Tons
Alacaağzı small seam: : 4.621.793 Tons
Alacaağzı Üçköylü: : 608.856 Tons
Total: : 12.158.451 Tons

With Longyear LF Drilling Machine, 4.266m of reserve development drills had been done on 7 separate locations.

Amasra and Kandilli’s exploitation has been received in exchange of royalty. Our targets are;
to produce coal by assessing the underground potential above 300 and contribute in the national economy,
to establish a modern exploitation company with new facilities and equipment investments in this field,
to extract coal adequate for the demands of domestic and overseas markets,
to provide coal compatible with the PCI standards to the use of iron-steel and casting industry,
to present clean, environment friendly and modern products for heating purposes,
to supply the coal demand of the power plant to be constructed in the area.

Survey, project and engineering studies and mining plans have all been done by expert technical staff that consist of mining, geology, mechanical and electrical engineers who have at least 20-25 years of experience and had parted from TTK to join Hema Industry. This team that has great experience and expertise on project and underground exploitations still works in Kandilli Colliery.
