It is a well known truth that energy is the key to being a economically developed country. Our country imports more than 90% of its oil and natural gas need by paying 40-45 billion dollars annually. This is why Hema Energy has concentrated its investments in West Black Sea Region to add the existing energy resources to the national economy.,

Hence, Hema has started exploratory drillings in a 7000km2 area in Zonguldak-Amasra-Azdavay Regions, where the total methane reserves are said to be 600m3 according to the TUBITAK reports, and active gas has been confirmed in the 3 first drilled wells.

Hema will start the exploratory drillings for oil and natural gas in Ereğli and Amasra Regions in the summer of 2008, in the 2 separate license areas taken from the General Directorate of Petroleum Affairs.

Hema continues the exploratory drillings in the 7 different licence areas in the west of Istanbul with the American Torreador Oil Company; with whom there is a 50-50% joint venture relationship.

Hema Natural Energy Resources keeps on the drillings for the methane with 3 of its rigs; which 2 of them are capable of drilling into 2500 meters. In addition to that, to determine the thickness and the depth of the coal seams in methane; Hema annually performs drillings which add to a total of 25.000 m within an average of 20 wells.
